Our TARANAKI 190 merino wool clothing range is made in 100% 190gsm MAPP single jersey Superfine New Zealand Merino using Zque wool. Experience has taught us that this is the best weight for all-year-round baselayer wear coupled with durability. This weight offers the ideal combination of comfort in both summer and winter, support where it counts, and durability. We consider that lighter weight fabrics, such as 150gsm, are far too flimsy, may give little in the way of support and are far less hard-wearing. Of course, the lighter the fabric weight, the cheaper it is to produce (especially in China!). We think quality is more important.

Wear our merino wool gear for hiking, trekking, biking and motorcycling, snow sports, sailing and canoeing - even under wet and dry suits for diving! Our TARANAKI 190 merino wool solo and midlayers, t-shirts and tops are designed to be multi-functional, multi-activity and multi-purpose, and with clean, simple lines they look as good as they perform. "this stuff is both elegant and highly functional."  And we don't think he means the beer !
