For 3 seasons, 2008-9, 2009-2010, 2010-2011, we have supplied kit to the UKAHT teams who go out each year to man (and woman) the Historic bases cared for by the Antarctic Heritage Trust. The Trust was founded to inform and educate people about Antarctica's unique heritage of exploration, and to protect historical buildings and artefacts both in the Antarctic and elsewhere. Port Lockroy continues to be the most visited site in Antarctica and this year they welcomed 13,000 vistors to the museum.

Our gear has to work under very varied conditions both in terms of climate and activity and we are very pleased that UKAHT have come back to us once again for their Antarctica gear.

Team Leader 2010-11 Nikki Ricketts sent us recently:

The Thermadry fingerless gloves were absolutely INVALUABLE during my four months at Port Lockroy, Antarctica. My first pair are still going strong (I've lovingly washed them a couple of times and they wash well), and I'm taking some new ones south this season. They are an essential piece of kit! I wore them during every waking hour (in the giftshop, franking post, cooking, repairing artefacts etc.) and they kept my hands dry and warm; even though they were fingerless. I was smitten! They were much admired by the expedition teams. So much so that they were kidnapped for a week, in which I was given a substandard pair of gloves and got chillblains :-( I was glad to receive them back again, and didn't let them out of my sight again! They would be ideal for budding photographers - allowing you to fiddle with your camera but still have warm hands, or if you're just nipping out on deck and don't want bulky ski gloves/mittens. 10/10 from us all at UK Antarctic Heritage Trust!

Below are some of the pics taken by this year's and last year's crew.
