New for 2012 from leading New Zealand Merino-Possum knitwear manufacturer MKM, comes their                  36.6° Double-possum Range.

65% NZ Corriedale wool, 25% Possum, 10% Nylon
36.6 Zipnecks 36.6 Hoodies 36.6 Gilets

We think of these as “Armadillos”!  Tough on the outside, soft on the inside...

These are no lightweights (~900g). They are designed to be extremely wind-resistant, to maintain optimum body warmth, and to be be multi-functional.

This range is a double layer/plated knit.  “Plating” is the simultaneous formation of one loop from two threads, so that one thread will lie on the face of the fabric while the other thread is fed to the needles in such a way that it forms the back or reverse of the garment.  In the case of the 36.6 range this results in an outer face of strong wool, and an inner face of soft possum.

The strong, close knit wool exterior gives an appearance that won’t look out of place for any casual use, whilst still being a piece of heavy-duty kit for anyone working or playing in the outdoors. We think these would be particularly useful to anyone whose occupation or interest keeps them outdoors in all weathers, but not necessarily always active e.g. fishermen, birdwatchers, photographers, stargazers and sunset watchers
