Sponsorship

We currently support a number of charities directly, the main ones being the Red Cross, RNLI, Cancer Research UK and The Dog's Trust.

We only offer charity sponsorship in the form of free clothing to individuals who have not been customers of ours prior to the request.

Please note that our sponsorship for 2011-12 is now fully committed.

Discount

Apart from to members of the organisations listed on our Discount page, in certain circumstances we may consider offering gear at a discount, but in order to be considered, in return for discount, we expect a link on the parent organisation's website, e.g. United Kingdom Antarctic Heritage Trust, plus reviews of our clothing on appropriate blogs and forums, and photos we may use on our website.

If an Organisation link is not possible, we may consider offering discount to individuals who can meet other on-line publicity requirements.

As we manufacture all our gear ethically in New Zealand, with the attendant much higher production costs,  we are simply not in the position to offer the sort of discounts available on Chinese-produced goods where the sellers margins are often more than 3 times ours.  However, if it’s the best you’’re looking for ..........

Bulk Purchasing

All our own label gear is made to our specification and is not mass produced.  We cannot therefore give bulk purchase deals without several months notice.   We can however supply merino-possum accessories and merino socks at shorter notice. Any enquiries should be emailed to us at enquiries@chocolatefish.co.uk.

Reviews & “Testing”

Almost all of our reviews are published on blogs, or posted on forums by customers who have bought from us. We do not, unless there are special circumstances, supply free items for review on personal blogs.

If items are requested for review in publications, we require confirmation from the site's editor/webmaster that a relevant detailed review will appear within a pre-determined time. Should a review not appear as agreed, we will invoice for the clothing supplied.

We do not send out gear for “testing”.  Our baselayer clothing is made using MAPP Merino - the only double-jersey superfine merino fabric specifically engineered for outdoor acitivities. It has already been tested in extreme conditions over several years with outstanding results.

In addition, our simple, pared-down styling has withstood the test of time - and “if it ain’t broke - don’t fix it” is our motto.  So if it performed brilliantly for the guys below, it will still perform brilliantly now.

Here are just a few of the comments to be found on our gear:

Viv Scott, Review in UK Climbing, says: The best base layers I've ever used by miles and already up there with my favourite take everywhere, everytime kit... Superb.

I-CJW mountaineer and climber uses Chocolate Fish merino. He says on his blog:

I wear my Chocolate Fish Taranaki merino top all year round. Cotton is a killer, synthetics give you that “Odeur de Homeless Person” seemingly within minutes of putting them on, but merino wool keeps you warm and smelling like a summer meadow. I like black because it absorbs more U.V. Merino costs more, but lasts much longer than other tops, doesn’t lose its shape and (because it stays warm even when damp, and doesn’t smell) you only need one.

Andy, writing in Summit-up Mountaineering says: The Chocolate Fish brand has been forcing the outdoor world to stop and take notice... their products are manufactured from quality New Zealand merino, in NZ. Couple this with the outstanding quality control that leaves certain rivals standing still, and you’ve got a sure fire winner.

’ve owned the baselayer for over year now and put it through some heavy use. Unlike some other merino baselayers on the market it has survived surprisingly well with little to no signs of visable damage. I’m especially happy with their products... [they]... blast the competition out of the market.
